The three-course (nine-credit) graduate Leadership of Public Organizations Certificate program provides pre-career and in-career students with advanced graduate studies in leadership and management within public organizations. This concentrated area focuses on leadership and management topics including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), management and leadership techniques, and a comprehensive review of all local, state, and federal policies that govern employment and employment practices.

The 15-credit, non-degree graduate certificate program in Maker Education offered at the GSE is designed to help educators and practitioners receive the education and resources necessary for developing competence and confidence to start, supervise, or use a Makerspace in a school, community center, or other learning space. The program is intended for participants to gain proficiency in maker-based learning activities or projects, including the development of curricula and assessments meeting common standards in STEM subjects. Participants will also explore how maker-centered projects can be leveraged as a vehicle for meaningful, discovery-based learning in mathematics, science, computer science, as well as integrated STEM/STEAM curricula.

Our Medical Coding Certificate program prepares students with the skills to classify and code medical data from inpatient, outpatient, and physician office records. Use of coded data for reimbursement purposes, ongoing changes in reimbursement methods, and an increased demand to report coded data to insurance companies make medical coding a skill in high demand in all health care settings. Coded data is also critical to medical research, medical and allied health education, vital statistics, or planning and monitoring public health. The current shortage of qualified coders has resulted in many perks on the job that may including flexible hours, sign-on bonuses, and the potential to work from home. In addition, consulting and travel opportunities are abundant.

Pioneered by scholars in education and school psychology, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a framework for providing comprehensive academic and behavioral health services for K-12 students. an 18-credit certificate program and a 30-credit master’s degree in applied psychology focused exclusively on MTSS in school settings. The 18-credit certificate program has been designed for current or future professionals in education (e.g., general or special educators, instructional leaders, administrators, counselors, psychologists, or other support professionals) who are looking to become change agents in their schools or districts.

The three-course (nine-credit) graduate Nonprofit Management Certificate program provides pre-career and in-career students with graduate studies in the area of nonprofit management and leadership. This concentrated area of study prepares students who are interested or working in the nonprofit sector to develop competencies in important elements of nonprofit organization management and performance.

The certificate program is designed to educate students in the area of Clinical Trial Management. Students learn the key aspects of Clinical Trial design and conduct and have the opportunity to be trained in the fundamentals of Regulatory Affairs. Students will also gain an understanding of the drug development process and have the opportunity to take a business course, such as project management. If a student chooses to continue their studies to pursue the MBS degree with a concentration in Drug Discovery and Development, all credits earned are transferable to the MBS degree, pending approval to the graduate program.

The certificate in science and technology management provides business and business-oriented courses intended to supplement training in a science, mathematics, or engineering degree. Students who already possess a graduate degree in science, mathematics, or engineering may also apply independently for the certificate program. Individuals who have worked in industry for at least five years are eligible to apply for the certificate program as part-time students.
