Rutgers University's M.A.T. in Spanish is a program that can be completed in a combination of course platforms – online, hybrid, on-campus, and/or a Rutgers summer study abroad program. The Master of Arts for Teachers (M.A.T.) in Spanish is a program designed for an individual who holds: a standard license to teach Spanish OR a certificate of eligibility (or equivalent) to teach Spanish while working toward licensure.

The Ed.M. in Adult and Continuing Education program (ACE) at the GSE is designed to equip graduates with both a conceptual and practical understanding of the adult learner and how to create and evaluate appropriate learning opportunities to meet their needs. The ACE program is offered both 100% online or in a hybrid format and incorporates curriculum designed to provide students with exposure to current research in the field, engagement from expert faculty, and practical coursework developed to facilitate active application of the material. Students who enroll in this 30-credit program come from diverse career backgrounds often including educational, non-profit, community-based, corporate, and healthcare settings, and exit the program with fundamental skills needed to pursue a range of careers in various settings and industries.

Led by expert faculty and informed by research-driven curriculum, the Ed.M. in Language Education program at the GSE offers students the opportunity for advanced study in the area of linguistics, language pedagogy, and the cultural context of language education. Through completion of the program, students will be equipped with a thorough understanding of the nature of language, the process of second language acquisition, the relationship between language and culture, and successful models of second language instructional strategies.

In the online Ed.M. in Learning, Cognition, & Development, you’ll explore the effects of psychology on academic achievement and education, starting by establishing a working knowledge of modern theory and research. You’ll then apply those psychological constructs in educational settings and other contexts. You’ll dive deep into the psychology of human learning and gain a comprehensive understanding of how humans think, learn, and grow. You’ll also learn how to translate empirical data into key insights, providing a foundation of critical thinking and analytical skills that you will carry into your career or further study as a doctoral candidate.

The master in music education is designed to address the professional growth of music teachers who already hold teaching certification (from any state or country) and are currently teaching in K-12 school settings. Students in the MM program are challenged to consider critical and timely issues in music education, stretch their philosophical beliefs, deepen their understanding of music education curriculum and pedagogy, develop skills as reflective practitioners, innovate within their existing practice, and commit to serving their school communities as leaders within the profession.
